The team of 25 people will be led by conceptbakery co-founder Felix Holzapfel, who now holds the title Zone chief executive Germany title.

James Freedman, co-founder and executive chairman of Zone, said: “The acquisition of conceptbakery is another significant step in our ambitious growth plans. It brings us further expertise in Germany, which boasts Europe’s largest economy and a growing digital sector.

“Upscaling our presence there means we are even better able to deliver across Europe for leading global clients. By deploying agile teams that combine expertise in strategy, technology and content with a deep understanding of local markets we can help businesses thrive in a digital world.”

Holzapfel added: “Digital transformation is critical for corporate success today and knows no borders. Many of our German and global customers are already active internationally or expanding. Now we can support them with even more international scale and expertise.”

Added to the roster is also conceptbakery’s Denver, Colorado office. It brings Zone’s overall staff number up to around 220 people.

The number of merger and acquisition deals involving integrated marketing services agencies rose while digital agencies continued to be the most popular sector for investment according to annual research released by Results International.
