Microsoft has partnered with Taboola, provider of the ‘Content You May Like’ feature on publisher sites that prompts viewers to click on sponsored stories, in an effort to increase traffic and monetize content on MSN.

MSN.com has been utilizing Taboola’s sponsored content recommendations and native content ads across 28 locations – including the US, UK and Germany – and has plans to integrate it further in 22 additional markets.

Of the tie-up, Joe Cepollina, Universal Store principal program manager lead at Microsoft, said: “MSN is one of the largest global publishers, aggregators and distributors of premium content online, enabling our media partners worldwide to reach hundreds of millions of consumers every month. Through our relationship with Taboola, we have built a new pillar of scalable monetization while giving our audiences a more deeply immersive and personalized content experience.”

MSN’s content websites currently bring in more than 397 million unique visitors per month globally, according to a November 2015 report from ComScore Media Metrix.

Taboola also works with publishers including Business Insider, USA Today and the Chicago Tribune.
