With Christmas comes an array of festive food and drink which often polarises opinion, but for those who love a mince pie Greggs is assuring that the mouth-watering (YES they are) scent will linger long after the pie has been devoured thanks to its novelty mince pie air freshener.

Based on the ingredients of a Greggs mince pie, the air freshener features sweet and spiced scents, with extracts of mulled vine fruits and Bramley apple aromas.

A spokesperson for Greggs, said: “Whether you are top to toe in tailbacks or just can't wait to see those faces, our new mince pie car air freshener will make driving home for Christmas an extra special start to the final countdown to the big day.”

The move illustrates the company's sense of humour which it has used throughout the Christmas period to advertise its limited edition produce.

Greggs claims that Birmingham is the mince pie capital of Britain followed by Manchester in second, then Liverpool, London, Leeds, Glasgow, Sheffield, Bristol, Bradford, and Edinburgh in 10th.

The bakery chain has shown its personality a number of times this year, such as the way it handled Google’s profile for the company after the search giant erroneously used a parody logo for the company which read: ‘Providing shit to scum for over 70 years’ in place of the correct logo with the words ‘Always Fresh. Always Tasty’ in it.

In response to the mishap and subsequent Twitter wave of hilarity Greggs twteeted: “Hey @GoogleUK, fix it and they’re yours!!! #FixGreggs”, accompanied by a photo of doughnuts.
