While brands like John Lewis have created a new tradition out of their christmas ads, other brands have taken on age-old traditions as a way to get in on the festive action.

PG Tips has decided to take on the Queen’s Speech, creating a humorous version of the 3pm Christmas Day tradition that asks people to ‘Keep it Tea’.

The Unilever-owned brand’s mascot, Monkey, is seen dressed as the Queen in the video on YouTube and delivers a message that aims to assert tea as continually ‘culturally relevant’.

Kate Hearn, senior brand manager for PG tips at Unilever UK, said: “Monkey’s Queen Speech opens with good intentions but soon ends with humorous results. We hope it will remind consumers about Keeping it Tea over the festive season.”

According to Unilever, the video is a reminder for people to ‘them grounded in a crazy world of fakery and superficiality’.
