Ed Sheeran quits Instagram & twitter to focus on the real world
Singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran has disappointed his 16m Twitter followers and 5.5m Instagram fans by telling them that he was ‘buggering off for a bit’.

Sheeran made his name online through word of mouth enthusiasm generated by digital performances and social media chatter but has now had enough of ‘staring at the world through a screen and not eyes.’
Instead of posting status updates and selfies Sheeran will now embark on a period of international travel to relax and ready his third album.
In a statement Sheeran said: “Hello all. I’m taking a break from my phone, emails and all social media for a while, I’ve had such an amazing ride over the last five years and I find myself seeing the world through a screen and not my eyes so I’m taking this opportunity of me not having to be anywhere or do anything to travel the world and see everything I missed.
“To my family and friends, if you love me you will understand me buggering off for a bit, to my fans, the third album is on its way and is the best thing I have made thus far. See you all next autumn and thank-you for being amazing.”
Sheeran is currently as popular as ever after concluding his latest world tour in Auckland, New Zealand, having performed 179 gigs to promote his second album, x.
