BBC World Service has chosen Oban Digital to run its international digital performance account as it looks to drive audience engagement in key markets around the world.

The account was awarded after a competitive pitch and will see the Brighton/NY-based agency help grow the BBC World Service's global weekly audience of 210 million across radio, TV and digital.

The digital marketing and SEO specialist agency will be responsible for developing the international search and content promotion strategy to increase audience engagement with the service in selected key markets.

A key focus of the account will be to promote the BBC brand and attract new users to the corporation’s digital offerings across its language services.

Oban Digital’s chief executive, Matt Owen, was “delighted that BBC World Service has chosen Oban Digital to drive forward its multi-country digital marketing”.

He said: “Delivering in depth digital experience, cultural insights and unique expertise in market are at the heart of our business and we are looking forward to continuing our successful relationship with the BBC World Service.”

The BBC’s World Service is available in 30 different languages and reaching audiences in the regions is digitally is a key goal for the broadcaster.
