Gun sales in America are surging in the wake of a terror attack committed by a radicalised couple who gunned down 14 people at an office party in San Bernardino, Southern California.

Whilst massacres involving firearms are nothing new in America the latest incident is being treated differently after Tashfeen Malik, wife of fellow shooter Syed Farook, posted a Facebook message in support of terror group IS just hours before the pair went on their murder spree.

In the wake of the incident pro-gun campaigners are urging citizens to take up arms to protect themselves, having previously issued a picture of a Nevada assemblywoman and nine of her family members posing with their weapons to ram home the point.

The image has now been shared widely online amongst a nervous public worried about where the next attack might come from.

Lobbyists have also criticised president Obama’s reiterated call for gun control saying that such a stance is ‘weak’, ‘predictable’ and ‘absurd’.
