Mars has announced that both Skittles and Snickers will return to the Super Bowl next year with new commercials.
BBDO NY will handle the Snickers creative while DDB Chicago will create the ad for Skittles.
The 30-second Snickers commercial will continue the brand’s ongoing ‘You’re Not You When You’re Hungry’ theme that last year featured a hungry Marcia Brady.
Last year, Skittles’ inaugural Super Bowl ad ‘Settle It’ featured two men arm-wrestling over the candy. The brand said it plans to “make Super Bowl 50 even more awesome with another expected commercial.”
The two candy brands are also taking part in a national in-store promotion that will begin in late December and leverages their status as National Football League (NFL) sponsors. Those who participate have the chance to win free candy and $75 NFLShop.com e-gift cards. The grand prize winner receives a $2,000 electronics gift card, a $600 pre-paid debit card, and a $250 NFLShop.com e-gift card to “host the ultimate Super Bowl party.”
