H&M has revealed some of its new winter range in a sneak peek of its Christmas campaign starring Katy Perry.

After a successful partnership with Balmain Paris, the high street store has revealed images of the American singer wearing looks from its holiday collection.

“These are pieces for pure pleasure, whether it’s the perfect party dress for the best night out, or the cosiest fun jumper for relaxing with friends and family,” said Pernilla Wohlfahrt, H&M’s head of design.

In the upcoming film, released in-full on Monday 23 November, Perry appears as a fairy before summoning a cast of characters, from life-sized gingerbread men, to oversized presents on roller skates and giant teddy bears. The advert will feature a new song, “Every Day is a Holiday”, written by Perry as its soundtrack.

Along with themed clothing H&M is also releasing specially designed gift cards to support children in Myanmar. For each gift card bought H&M Conscious Foundation will donate five per cent of the price to UNICEF.

American shoppers, however, will be unable to see the collection instore on 26 November, the traditional start of Christmas shopping in America, as all US-based stores will close on Thanksgiving for the first time.

“In the tradition of Thanksgiving, H&M will close our US stores on Thanksgiving Day, allowing our store teams to enjoy this time with their families and friends,” commented Daniel Kulle, president of H&M’s North American operations.

The move follows the roll out of a new recruitment campaign by the retailer.
