Ronald McDonald House Charity has resurrected a number of children’s TV characters for its new Night Light campaign.

The national charity has partnered with Rawnet to create bedtime e-book featuring several 1980’s characters such as Pingu, Dogtanian, Willy Fogg, Henry's Cat and the Poddington Peas. It also features specially designed animations and the voice of actor Matthew Addis

The independent charity provides housing for the families of children who are being treated at specialist hospitals allowing families to maintain a degree of normal life. There are currently 14 Ronald McDonald Houses in the UK and last year they supported over 6,000 famillies.

The release of the book follows earlier stages of the campaign which have seen a competition to name Patch and the release of 10 local books, each set in a town or city where a Ronald McDonald House is situated including Manchester and Birmingham.

Commenting on the previous books featuring Patch, marketing and communication manager Lauren Gotlieb said “We hope children have enjoyed our stories so far and that it has encouraged more mums and dads to read them a bedtime story, an act that is even more precious if their child is ill in hospital.”

Rawnet designed, wrote and produced the series which can be accessed through a range of different platforms. Supporters of the charity were able to offer ideas and artwork during the series production.

Adam Smith, owner and managing director at Rawnet says “The Night Light campaign combines a winning formula for the modern day bedtime story. It’s interactive, personal and fun, with the right mix of characters to keep kids and parents alike entertained, and to encourage them to spend time reading together.

The free interactive e-book aims to raise funds and awareness for the independent charity that provides accommodation for the families of children being treated at specialist hospitals around the UK.
