Ad of the Day: Dick’s ‘The Gift’
Dick’s Sporting Goods has rolled out a touching holiday spot that features a real daughter and father as she prepares to tell him the big news that he is going to be a grandfather.
Created by Anomaly, ‘The Gift’ shows a family gathering on Christmas day. When the father receives a tiny pair of Adidas shoes as his last Christmas gift, his teary-eyed daughter tells him he has another gift on the way.
The cast features a real family, the Iacona’s, from New Jersey. They spent a day recreating their Christmas for the ad.
With the video, Dick’s aims to show viewers that it has "gifts that matter."
Last year, the sporting goods chain ran a similar holiday commercial called ‘The Hoop’ that told the story of a little girl who grows up using her basketball hoop during neighborhood pick-up games, as a pole for decorations during parties, and as a bench to sit on while waving goodbye to a friend moving away.
