Yahoo snaps up Weve's Nigel Clarkson for UK managing director role

Yahoo has appoionted Weve managing director Nigel Clarkson to the role of UK managing director and country commerical director.

In the role Clarkson will oversee Yahoo’s business in the UK and the promotion of its advertising offering, including its programmatic ad stack BrightRoll and its native marketplace Yahoo Gemini, to brands and agencies in the UK.

Nick Hugh, vice president, EMEA said of the appointment: “Regarded as an inspirational leader by those from within and outside companies where he has worked, Nigel is just the person we were looking for in this role. In addition to his fantastic reputation, Nigel is well networked in the industry and quite simply, he gets it. His acute understanding of the digital advertising landscape, in particular, mobile, will be fundamental to driving continued revenue growth in this crucial market.”

With a focus on Yahoo’s Mavens strategy, which champions digital advertising growth in four key areas - mobile, video, native and social - Clarkson will be responsible for driving the commercial success of Yahoo in the UK.

Prior to running Weve clarkson was head of sales at start-up LivingSocial, the online marketplace which offers deals, gift ideas and discounts to users. He is expected to join Yahoo in February 2016 and will report directly into Hugh.
