Comic Frank Skinner is to front a weekly talk show, exclusive to the iPlayer, discussing the content on the streaming service.

‘Frank Skinner On Demand With…’ will run as a 15 minute weekly review show where Skinner, and a celebrity partner, will discuss and promote content on the platform – aiding show discovery and raising awareness.

Perhaps taking a leaf out of Apple Music’s ‘human curation’ handbook, Skinner will handpick shows including "hidden gems to guilty pleasures" to discuss with guests. Of the new show, Skinner said: “As a kid, I had a recurring dream that I was alone in the local toy shop and could help myself to anything I fancied.

“BBC iPlayer feels a bit like that dream. But now I’m allowed to take a playmate, to show me the things they love that I might have missed.”

The BBC hopes the new show will aid discovery of content on its digital service, looking to build upon the some 40 per cent of users it says already watch shows they have never heard of on the iPlayer.
