Jared Fogle, once the face of Subway in its formative years, has agreed to pay over $1m in restitution to 10 minors he was found guilty of engaging in illicit acts with.

The pitchman, who has been completely denounced by the sandwich chain, last month pled guilty to pornography and sex crime charges, and is set to be sentenced in November. Before the decision however, Fogle has voluntarily distributed $100,000 cheques to 10 of his victims over the last few weeks, reports the Associated Press.

Before he is sentenced to a minimum of five years in prison (and a maximum of 12.5), four more victims are expected to receive payment in a rare case of unenforced restitution.

Steven DeBrota, assistant US attorney said that the money will help “go on with their lives and put them where they should have been had none of this happened".

Fogle’s attorney Jeremy Margolis said in August: “Jared fully recognizes that such monetary contribution will not undo the harm he has caused [but hopes it will help] these individuals as they try to move forward with their lives."
