There’s a lot of talk about emoji’s at the moment; are they a valid language and should we be annoyed that the youth are using them to communicate? Those who say no to the above are usually in a demographic summed up by the phrase ‘they just don’t understand’ but is that really the case when brands decide to use emojis in copy. During #SMBuzzChat, the weekly Twitter chat run by The Drum’s Social Buzz Awards, the topic was discussed quite frivolously.

Here’s a brief roundup of some of the best tweets from the night as well as the opinion of our guest host for the evening, Dan Parry from DigitasLbi.

The full chat can be found by searching for #SMBuzzChat on Twitter; excuse all the Drake gif’s.

We’re already excited for next weeks chat with Ruby Love. Make sure you get notified of the event by attending our Facebook event. Also, want to guest host a #SMBuzzChat and get the community to answer your questions? Drop me an email and we’ll sort it out.
