Fuming Texans sue Volkswagen over deceptive diesel marketing
Volkswagen is facing fresh turmoil today after it was hit by a lawsuit filed by the State of Texas, accusing the car giant of deceptive marketing of its diesel engines.
Filed in a Travis County court by the office of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton the lawsuit seeks an injunction against Volkswagen, as well as damages and fines.
The case follows a scandal in which it emerged Volkswagen had installed defeat devices on its diesel powered vehicles to artificially lower emissions under test conditions, savaging the brands reputation for integrity.
