A Twitter campaign by Cult Ldn to promote Picador Book' s autobiography of fashion legend, eco warrior, grandmother and feminist icon Vivienne Westwood took an unexpected twist last week when Westwood made a shock protest shortly before her Red Label SS16.

The protest took place just before Westwood’s critically acclaimed Red Label catwalk, with people wearing anti-fracking slogans and Westwood made a rare speech to the press and Periscope feeds spreading her 'Climate Revolution' message about climate change, austerity and about how 'politicians are animals'.

The protest ahead of Westwood's spring/summer 2016 catwalk reflects Westwood's strong beliefs in changing the world for the better and how she can use fashion to spread the word about climate change. The protest embodies the messages in her newly released paperback autobiography 'Vivienne Westwood'.

CULT Ldn and Picador collaborated together to promote the release of the paperback and came up with the idea to hold a live Twitter book reading, where fans were invited to share their inspirational quotes from the fashion legend’s autobiography.

Fans and influencers shared their inspirational quotes from the book using the hashtag #VivienneTalks

The reading was broadcast on Periscope reaching 500,000 active viewers, creating 4.5m impressions and a retweet from Vivienne’s own personal Twitter account @FollowWestwood.

Picador has never before used this method of promotion, however due to its success, will be continuing the live book readings with CULT Ldn.
