AOL and Snoop Dogg have come together to create a new reality series which will follow players and coaches in the entertainer's Youth Football League.

Snoop will direct and star in the in the online series via a collaboration with his film company Snoopadelic Films and the internet giant. The series, set to debut later this year, will run for eight episodes and follow the Youth Football League as they travel across the US to compete against rival teams.

Jimmy Maymann, AOL's president of content and consumer brands, said of the series: “When it comes to original content, we have always partnered with the best talent in the business to tell the most compelling stories through sight, sound, and motion. This series is the perfect example of content we are proud to create, and we have already been inspired by the perseverance and heart of the young players in Snoop’s league.”

This is the latest orginal series from AOL as it looks to diversify its content. The internet company recently inked a deal with Nestle's SMA Nutrition to sponsor its first UK original series Being Mum.

The Snoop Youth Football League, founded in 2005, serves low-income youth between the ages of five and 13 to emphasise the values of teamwork, good sportsmanship, discipline and self-respect.
