Facebook chief Zuckerberg pushes for global internet access
Mark Zuckerberg has lauded the importance of global connectivity to the internet in a keynote speech to the UN on Saturday.
Pushing the mantra of his Internet.org body at the 70th annual UN General Assembly session, Zuckerberg told guests including Angela Merkal and UN sec-gen Ban Ki-moon that “more than four billion people don't have a voice online”.
He said: “Connecting the world is one of the fundamental challenges of our generation.
"When communities are connected, we can lift them out of poverty, we can and must do more."
Furthermore, Zuckerberg also pledged to provide web access across refugee camps. He shared his message on his social network.
