Presented by Jim White the new show will air on 9 September and includes an interview with NFL executive vice president Troy Vincent in New York followed by live updates from the New York Giants and the New York Jets.

Sky has recruited a team of 11 roving reporters to undertake the ambitious cross country special, which will see them interview players and coaches as they are granted back room and stadium access.

Andy Cairns, executive editor for Sky Sports News HQ, said: “We are going to make history with 32 Live and it’s a fantastic way to kick off the NFL season on Sky, which will be our most comprehensive to date. American football is going to get the Sky Sports News HQ treatment with Jim White leading our teams of reporters across America, giving UK and Ireland fans all the pre-season news and behind the scenes stories from every team just 24 hours before the first game. Whether you’re a Viking, a Patriot, a Charger or a Cowboy, this day is for you.”

Alistair Kirkwood, managing director of NFLUK, said: “This is an incredible way to launch the season and will really whet appetites for the opening games. To say this is an ambitious project is an understatement but it indicates the Sky Sports commitment to bringing viewers as close to the NFL action as possible. We are very excited to see the day unfold.”

Sky will broadcast at least five games a week over the NFL season, including every playoff clash, the Pro Bowl and the Super Bowl.
