Samsung has launched a new promotion to tempt iPhone owners to switch to a Galaxy smartphone.

The South Korean firm is looking to attract devotees of the rival handset with a 30 day Samsung Galaxy trial called the "Ultimate Test Drive".

The scheme, available only in the US for a $1 processing fee, will posts a Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6 edge+ or Galaxy S6 edge, a SIM card, a data transfer wire and a how-to-switch guide to interested parties.

After 30 days, users are encouraged to return the device or be hit with a bill for the handset’s full market price.

Elizabeth Solomon, vice president of marketing at Samsung, said: “We want to give people the chance to try out Samsung’s latest and greatest smartphones firsthand without any obligation through our Ultimate Test Drive.

IPhone users need only visit the Samsung Promotions website using the Safari browser on their device to initiate the scheme.

Samsung will also accumulate visitor data to the webpage, which will show which iPhone users are optimal candidates for conversion to one of its devices via targeted ads.
