Gareth Jones has been appointed to eBay's UK leadership team as senior marketing director.
He joins from Compare the Market where he was director of marketing strategy, planning and performance and helped develop the comparison website's successful 'Compare the Meerkat' campaigns.
With over 20 years of industry experience, Jones has worked for several high-profile brands such as Carphone Warehouse, Capital One and Royal Mail.
In his new role, he will be responsible for inspiring and engaging eBay customers as the auction platform gears up for the Christmas trading period.
Commenting on the appointment, Tanya Lawler, vice-president of eBay UK, said: “Jones is a best-in-class marketer with a proven track record of developing strategies which flow across customer touch points and key platforms.
"He will play the lead in creating and delivering seasonally relevant, targeted marketing campaigns to the 18 million Brits who visit eBay each month.”
The online marketplace hired digital advertising agency executive Suzy Deeringas chief marketing officer earlier on this week.
