Chris Wollen, Droga5’s head of business development, will now serve as the New York-based agency’s first chief marketing officer.

In this position, he will continue to oversee business development and will lead new efforts with its partner WME-IMG, a sports and entertainment agency.

He will also serve as the point person for new business opportunities and partnerships.

Wollen joined Droga5 in 2013 from The Barbarian Group. He has also worked at Grey and BBH New York throughout his career.

According to the agency, he has helped Droga5 win 30 new businesses and more than $45m in revenue.

Global CEO of Droga5 Sarah Thompson said: “Since Chris arrived at the agency, he has led an incredibly successful charge, guiding our pitch process and helping us to pitch smarter, with a macro vision of the type of businesses we wanted to add to our portfolio.”

His promotion follows other senior appointments at the agency. Earlier this year, former TBWA Worldwide communications head Marianne Stefanowicz was named as its first global head of communications.

Droga5’s clients include Google, Toyota, and Under Armour. Recent wins include NRG and Chase.
