Subway severs links with spokesperson Jared Fogel ahead of child porn plea deal

Sandwich chain Subway has sought to distance itself from its former spokesperson by issuing a terse Twitter statement announcing that it had ended its relationship with Jared Fogle and would make no further comment on the matter.

We no longer have a relationship with Jared and have no further comment.

It follows a dramatic 7 July raid on Fogle’s home as part of an investigation into the Jared Foundation, a body founded by the former Subway spokesperson to teach children about healthy eating.

This itself followed the earlier arrest of the Foundation’s executive director Russell Taylor after a raid on his home unearthed over 500 child pornography videos.

The move comes amidst media reports that Fogle will plead guilty to child pornography charges levelled against him as part of a plea deal with the US attorney’s office.
