South Korea-based Cheil Worldwide has appointed Brad Brinegar to the new role of CEO of Cheil North America.

In this role, he will be tasked with determining the vision for Cheil’s network in North America while driving growth and providing support for its three agencies in the US – The Barbarian Group, Iris Worldwide, and McKinney.

Brinegar will continue to serve as both chairman and CEO of McKinney, roles he has served in since joining the agency in 2002.

Under his leadership, the agency has expanded from Durham, North Carolina to New York City. Prior to joining McKinney, he served as CEO of Leo Burnett USA.

Of his appointment, he said: “Cheil has assembled a unique network of modern agencies in the US market. My new job is to help the leaders of all three agencies to efficiently partner and build out our offering in the US.”

His promotion follows a number of other moves Cheil has made to strengthen its international presence.

Earlier this year, Cheil established its Global Network team in London and appointed Lotta Malm-Hallqvist as global chief growth officer and Malcolm Poynton as global chief creative officer. In July, president and CEO of Cheil Greater China Aaron Lau took on the additional role of president-international to oversee the global growth activities of the network.
