A San-Francisco based start-up is seeking to carve out a niche for itself in the delivery of medicinal marijuana deliveries throughout California by purchasing a fleet of aerial drones to deliver its subscription pot boxes.

Trees Delivery believe that their product is uniquely suited to getting high, due to its light weight, although commentators have warned the service could be vulnerable to criminals seeking to obtain illegal drugs by shooting craft out of the sky.

Speaking to Mashable Trees Delivery CEO Marshall Hayner brushed aside questions that the scheme may be nothing more than a publicity stunt, saying: “We have a fleet of three drones that have mechanical arms," said Hayner. "We tested them, we're ready, the only thing that holds us back is the FAA.”

Cannabis remains illegal for recreational use in most US states although that hasn’t stopped a number of enterprising dealers from establishing home delivery services.
