Welcome to Brand of the Day, where we pick the brand making headlines and explain what you need to know about why it's in the news.

Philadelphia Eagles coach Chip Kelly has found himself the center of controversy this week after a third former player made comments about his relationship with black players.

Cornerback Brandon Boykin, who joined the Pittsburgh Steelers at the weekend, was the latest to suggest Kelly didn’t treat players of different race equally when he said to Comcast SportsNet that the coach was “uncomfortable around grown men of our culture.”

Prior to this ex-Eagles Pro Bowl running back LeSean McCoy claimed that Kelly got rid of “all the good black players.” While assistant coach Tra Thomas told Fox in March that some players felt a “hint of racism” existed within the organization. In response to McCoy's comment, Kelly said: "We put a lot of time looking into character and factors that go into selection and retention of players. Color’s never been one of them.”

Here’s more on the Philadelphia Eagles brand.

In 1943, the Eagles and the Pittsburgh Steelers combined for one season due to a shortages of players brought on by World War II. The team was called both Phil-Pitt and the Steagles.

Andy Reid, who was appointed head coach in 1999, helped the team win their division six times and took them to Super Bowl XXXIX. Reid served as the team's head coach for 14 seasons, the longest tenure of any coach in franchise history.

Eagles founder, Bert Bell, led the way in establishing the NFL draft system which affords the weakest teams the first opportunity to sign the best available players.

The Philadelphia Eagles are the only NFL team with a logo facing left, all the others are either front facing or positioned facing right. The reason for this is believed to be because it creates an ‘E’ on the bird of prey’s neck.

The Eagles were named after the Blue Eagle, a symbol used for the New Deal stimulus programs initiated during the Great Depression.
