Twitter says heartfelt 'I do' to Bachelorette finale

Summer TV was in top form last week as reality TV (and docs) and talent competitions captured the eyes – and emotional reactions – of Twitter users.

The season finale of The Bachelorette inspired 100,101 of the 2,435,523 total reactions on Twitter according to Canvs, the leading qualitative social TV solution.

More than 20,400 fans expressed sentiments of “love” after Kaitlyn picked Shawn over Nick.” 49 per cent of the 27,020 reactions to Shawn featured 'love' terms; just 22 per cent of the 23,396 reactions to Nick featured 'love' terms.

Below, additional insights and an infographic about the social TV week that was:

  • Bachelorette Kaitlyn had a choice to make between bachelors Shawn and Nick. The hashtag #teamshawn was used in more than 12 per cent of all reactions whereas #teamnick was used in less than one per cent.
  • Although Shawn proved to be the fan favorite, 2,288 Twitter users still expressed sadness for Nick after he became runner-up for the second time in Bachelorette history.
  • After Kaitlyn accepted Shawn’s proposal, happy accounted for 21 per cent of reactions and eight per cent were excited for the newly engaged couple.
