Watch out Vice! The Onion readies parody ‘Edge’ video series mocking the news outlet
Satirical news site the Onion is ready to up the ante with a video offering mocking the tone of Vice’s documentary output.
Mocking the tone and content of Vice’s award winning video reports, Edge will feature a series of episodes each clocking in at under four minutes each.
From 3 August, Onion Studio’s in-house team will launch the first video content developed by the department taking a swing at the edgy news brand.
George Zwierzynski Jr, vice president of production at The Onion told the Hollywood Reporter: “Vice is wrought with a distinct self-confidence, which of course gets our writers salivating.
"The Onion team is highly competitive when it comes to other companies and publishers, so it’s only natural we would take a stab at Vice as a whole.
“We’ve been approached by a good amount of distro partners, and are in the process of thinking about the future of this series and others like it. We do plan on extending the series, but what form that takes with a partner is still being detailed."
The series will likely adopt the tone adopted by Vice parody Twitter account Vice Is Hip, some tweets from below can give you a taster of what to expect.
