Public relations specialists MWW PR is seeking to demonstrate its understanding of the transient nature of reputation with the eye-opening appointment of disgraced former politician Anthony Weiner - whose career came crashing down around him after he was (twice) revealed to have shared inappropriate pictures of himself to his Twitter followers.

MWWPR, Anthony Weiner

Weiner will serve on its board of advisors to assist corporate clients in handling the fall-out from their own public relations crises, although ironically it is MWW which itself runs the risk of facing a backlash for choosing to associate itself with Weiner.

In a statement MWWPR stressed that its newest recruit would not liaise directly with clients and would instead perform a part-time consultancy role drawing on his own experiences, saying: “Anthony brings to MWWPR a deep background and understanding in the workings of Congress and the City of New York. As a former member of the U.S. House of Representatives, Anthony was a leader on many issues ranging from the future of healthcare to national technology policy. His public policy expertise will be a great asset to our firm.

“Anthony Weiner is an expert on public policy and will not be expected to service clients directly. As a member of our Board of Advisors, he will be a part time consultant to the agency, primarily focused on policy matters and new business development.”

The former Democrat came to prominence in 2011 after the New York Post published a topless picture of the politician under the headline ‘Working Stiff’. Following this Weiner resolutely protested his innocence, claiming that he had been the victim of hackers, before eventually admitting guilt and resigning from office.

That didn’t stop him running for mayor in 2013 when he again came unstuck for sending explicit messages to porn star Sydney Leathers.
