The BBC’s £15m strategic media planning contact has returned to Havas Media, which has opened an office in Manchester as a result.

The account, which The Drum understands to be worth between £13m-£15m, was previously held by MEC Manchester since 2012.

Following the statutory review process that began last Autumn, the account has returned to Havas Media, which previously shared the work with PHD until it parted ways with the brand three years ago.

In order to service the account, a new office has opened to be near the BBC’s Salford headquarters, and will be headed up by Havas Media managing director Natasha Murray who has been tasked with recruiting and building a team in Manchester.

Murray said: “We are very excited and proud to be working with the BBC and its amazing content to drive value and audience engagement by creating relevant and innovative experiences for the multi-platform consumer.”

Havas Media’s St Martin’s Lane Office in London will also help facilitate the running of the account however.
