50 Cent has downplayed reports of his bankruptcy stating that it is just a “precaution” to stave off legal action.

Following him filing for bankruptcy on Monday days after he was sued for $5m for leaking a sex tape, Curtis Jackson III told E! his wealth had made him a target.

50 Cent, who was recently ranked fourth place in Forbes' ‘Hip-Hop's Five Wealthiest Artists 2015’ list, said: “You know when you're successful and stuff, you become a target. I don't wanna be a bullseye. I don't want anybody to pick me as the guy that they just come to with astronomical claims and go through all that.

"Walt Disney has filed bankruptcy. Donald Trump has filed bankruptcy, it means you're reorganising your finances, but it does stop things from moving forward that you don't want moving forward. I gotta decent legal team. You don't have to worry."

Perhaps on the news, the stream of Twitter jokes claiming the ’50 Cent got no cents’ will die down.
