Tumblr, the Yahoo owned microblogging and social service, has appointed former Comedy Central executive Don Steele as head of audience development.
Steele will assume his newly created role alongside fellow hire Evan Minskoff, formerly of Ovation TV, who will head up Tumblr’s marketing strategy and operations. Both will report directly to chief marketing officer Stephanie Dolgins.
Steele will be tasked with developing Tumblr’s marketing plans and campaigns in an effort to drive engagement and increase the platforms user base whilst Minskoff will be tasked with overseeing the development and execution of Tumblr’s brand and marketing strategy in addition to audience analytics.
Tumblr was acquired by Yahoo two years ago in a $1.1bn deal , since which it has introduced a range of new advertising formats and marketing partnerships to boost revenues.
