Ikea is hoping a troop of monkeys will inspire the public to get back in to the kitchen as part of its latest campaign.

The Monkeys ad, the next installment in ‘The Wonderful Everyday’ campaign, pushes Ikea's Metod range to show that you can have fun in the kitchen. The Mother-created ad stars a troop of Howler, Spider and Capuchin monkeys from the Jaguar Rescue Center in Costa Rica.

Different length versions of the ad will run after it airs in its entirety this weekend (11 July), while a 90-second ad will run online. CRM, PR, outdoor and online executions will back the launch along with social media.

Peter Wright, marketing manager at Ikea UK, said: “Lots of people think of cooking as a chore, so we want this campaign to encourage people to abandon those feelings and rediscover the joy of cooking, with partners, families, parents or friends.

"It is all too easy to think of just the eating as the enjoyable part, but at Ikea we see things differently. We know there’s fun to be had for all the family in the kitchen and we hope these cheeky monkeys will help people experience that for themselves.”
