Despite digital being the platform Europeans are most likely to book holidays on, just under three quarters of holiday-goers are still reliant on printed tickets.

Data from Canon, surveying 5,000 individuals across the UK, France, Germany, Italy and Spain in June 2015, found that 72 per cent of Europeans print out travel documents as a precautionary measure to overcome any technological issues or potential mix-ups.

Brits were the most likely to print out their tickets (74 per cent).

When asked what information British holidaymakers want readily available when travelling, the top five were: the address of the final destination (71 per cent), a map of the destination (59 per cent), directions to where they are staying (39 per cent), public transportation directions to destination (33 per cent), and key local addresses and phone numbers (23 per cent).
