R/GA chief, Bob Greenberg has described winning the Lion of St Mark at the Cannes Festival of Creativity as ‘a real honour’.

Speaking to The Drum prior to receiving the award on Saturday evening during the closing award ceremony that also saw his company named Agency of the Year, Greenberg described the Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity as “probably the most important event” in the industry, which made the recognition all the more special to him.

“It’s become much more than a festival, it’s become a part of our business so it’s really an honour to be recognised by such a great organisation, particularly at this time as someone who has come out of digital, and even though that is a general title that doesn’t make sense any more, it gets you in the space to understand that we are involved with the internet, mobile and social and that we have moved back to storytelling. It’s an interesting thing to get awarded at this time. It’s a real honour. “
