Former Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson has implied fans will be disappointed by tonight's (Sunday 28 June) "cobbled together" final episode of the show.

Pieced together from footage shot before the infamous fracas, Clarkson recorded a new voiceover for the show, under the terms of his old contract, with Hammond and May filming new links.

Speaking via his column in The Sun, Clarkson said: "At 8pm tomorrow, BBC2 is screening an edition of Top Gear cobbled together from two films that were made before I got fired. One of them is quite good."

Andy Wilman, the former executive producer of Top Gear, added the final episode had been "awful to make" and "very sad". Following rumours of a move to Netflix he added the team had been meeting to work out the "nuts and bolts of what the new show will do and what it will look like".

The Top Gear brand, however, will stay with the BBC after it bought the name three years ago in a multimillion pound deal with Chris Evans named as its new host.

The 75-minute long final show is predicted to be the highest rated episode yet, beating its current record of 8.4 million viewers.
