Kate Monaghan, presenter of the BBC's Ouch: Disability podcast, has said that one of the key aspects to creating a successful podcast is including guests who will connect with your audience and not being afraid of talking about anything.

Monaghan was speaking at the Online Media Awards 2015 where she collected the award for Best Media Podcast, and she highlighted the importance of undertaking preliminary research on guests and making them feel comfortable so that the podcast feels “like a conversation you’re having down the pub after the show.”

The BBC Ouch: Disabilty podcast uses a personal and sometimes humorous approach to discuss disabilities and how they can affect people’s lives.
