Facebook’s Nicola Mendelsohn predicts digital first campaigns will clean up at Cannes

Facebook’s vice president of EMEA, Nicola Mendelsohn, has touted digital and mobile first campaigns winning Cannes Lions to dramatically increase.

Noting an uptake in the utilisation of technology in advertising, Mendelsohn, who also sits on the Creative Industries Council, noted that this shift will be clearly displayed at the awards.

Speaking in anticipation of Cannes Lions to Bloomberg, Mendelsohn, said: “One of the big changes we are going to see at the Cannes Advertising festival this year is the increase in the number of winners that are digital first, mobile first and probably mobile first, that is definitely a shift that has happened.

“I think there is a shift to mobile and digital, it is almost like a revolution because it is changing all our lives, if we just think about how we have changed our own patterns of behaviour to bring digital in.

“There is a long way to go for a lot of different companies but what I am interested in is the start-up businesses that are being created in this region.”

On how digital habits are changing, Mendelsohn in March highlighted that Facebook stickers in particular offers great potential for brands on the news that 350m.
