Snapchat is seeking to burnish its storytelling capabilities by focussing on US 2016 presidential candidate Jeb Bush, snapping a host of photos and videos for curation on its live story feed.

This puts the Bush campaign bid within the reach of as many as 100m Snapchat users, drawn like many of his opponents to the platform by the ability to instantly reach out to users.

Fellow Republicans Sen. Rand Paul (SenatorRandPaul), Sen. Marco Rubio (marcorubio2016) and Gov. Rick Perry (GovernorPerry) have already joined under their own steam but their reach is limited to their own followers.

Politicians have embraced the medium as a means of delivering behind the scenes glimpses of the campaign trail, speech writing and custom messages to supporters, especially the key 18-34 age group.

Bush’s advantage is all the more remarkable as he doesn’t even have an official presence on the platform, choosing instead to partner directly with the social media firm.
