Google has begun testing a new system of ‘slow to load’ yellow warning signs for its mobile search results, alerting browsers to tardy content before they waste precious seconds staring at a twirling load symbol.

Unsurprisingly bandwidth heavy applications such as YouTube are amongst the biggest offenders but now Android could be notified of this fact by a little yellow warning sign on search results before they dive in.

The experiment is the latest move by Google to notify users of potential problems earlier in the browsing process and follows reports that a red slow label had been tested back in February, although nothing has been heard from that initiative since.

Google has not commented on the latest experiment leaving speculation as to whether it is ever likely to appear moot. If it does it seems it will be a long time coming.
