Veteran rapper Snoop Dogg has pitched in for the position of Twitter chief executive with an impassioned social media announcement.

After Twitter chief executive Dick Costolo announced he will quit the position Thursday evening, Snoop has put himself forward for the role.

He seeks to replace Jack Dorsey, co-founder and chairman of the board, who is serving as interim chief executive.

Analysing the company's recent lack of user growth and all-out ad-push, the Dogg acknowledged that the social network needs more 'moolah'.

Snoop even got a hashtag rolling, asking social media users how he would change the site.

As a result, a lot of weed-related puns emerged.
