McDonald’s names former Bacardi marketer Lagnado as global CMO
McDonald’s has named Silvia Lagnado as its new global chief marketing officer (CMO).
At McDonalds, she will be in charge of handling the brand's global management, including global marketing, menu and consumer insights.
Lagnado was most recently the chief marketing officer (CMO) of Bacardi and worked at Unilever before that.
Lagnado joins McDonald's at the same time as Robert Gibbs, who has been named global chief communications officer (CCO).
Gibbs previously worked at communications firm, The Incite Agency, which he co-founded. He also served as a White House advisor, being President Barack Obama's press secretary during his first term.
Both Lagnado and Gibbs will report to McDonald’s chief executive officer Steve Easterbrook.
Gibbs will be tasked with handling corporate relations – both internal and external communications,
"Robert and Silvia are both highly-respected, talented leaders who will bring a wealth of experience and outside perspective to McDonald's as we build a more modern, progressive burger company," said Easterbrook.
"Returning excitement to our business proposition and brand is foundational to our turnaround plan, and Robert and Silvia -- with their respective teams -- will play critical roles in bringing this strategy to life."
