MTV UK, Macmillan Cancer Support, Samsung, Lego and Innocent are just some of the brands signed up to judge this year’s Social Buzz Awards, in association with iomart.

Celebrating and rewarding the best in social media communications in the UK, three new categories – Best Automotive Sector Social Media Strategy/Campaign, Best Viral Campaign and Best Use of Promotions/Competitions – have been added for 2015.

Open for entry, the awards launch with 15 judges already on board with William Scougal, head of strategy at Twitter; Boots social media manager, Sean Meehan; Tim Pritchard, head of social, Manning Gottlieb UK and Red Bull social media manager, Will Gilgrass signed up to offer their expert opinions on this year’s hopefuls.

Phil Worms, chief marketing officer for Social Buzz headline sponsor cloud company, iomart, commented: “With an estimated 72 per cent of the world’s internet users now active on social, it really is transforming the way that we communicate and connect with each other. Organisations that are serious about building communities on social media are in essence creating their own dynamic content publishing platforms capable of reaching a potential audience of over a billion people daily.

“Used properly social presents a major opportunity to reach new markets, share knowledge, interact and receive feedback in real time with an audience that should be developing deeper, personal relationships with a brand. This phenomenon hasn’t happened overnight, its evolved. It isn’t simply a case of throw up ‘a Twitter account, sit back and wait for followers’, successful exponents have worked hard on delivering a strategy to ensure that they put the ‘social in social media’.

“You only have to view the various categories at this year’s Social Buzz Awards from Best Use of Insight/Monitoring to Largest ROI from a social media campaign or strategy to realise that there is more to social than wishing everyone ‘a good morning’ at eight a.m.”

Entry deadline for this year’s awards is Friday 14 August, with the winners set to be announced at the Marriott Grosvenor Square, London, on Wednesday 25 November. Categories, the full list of judges and details of how to apply can be found on the Social Buzz Awards website.
