Mobile development firm Amazon Game Studios has revealed its plans to move into PC game development.

The e-commerce giant, which has been expanding rapidly of late with exclusive TV content, cloud services and electronic devices such as the Kindle Fire, has now announced a pivot into PC games.

Amazon Game Studios was previously focused on developing titles for mobile and Kindle Fire devices. However, the company is now working on a “ambitious new PC game project”, according to a job post on Gamasutra.

The Seattle-based team currently has developers from projects such as Portal, World of Warcraft and BioShock.

A statement on the listing said: “Amazon is committed to gamers, and building great teams who are excited to use Twitch, the AWS cloud, and technical innovation to radically evolve gameplay.

“We believe that games have just scratched the surface in their power to unite players and will produce some of the future’s most influential voices in media and art.”

Through Amazon-owned Twitch, the title would have an ideal sister platform to be shared with the world.
