Global, the media and entertainment group, has snapped up UTV Media’s Juice FM for £10m, subject to regulatory approval.

The Liverpool based broadcaster was offloaded by UTV as part of its strategic decision to sell off local stations to cover losses from its recently launched Irish TV channel, with a review of 12 further stations currently ongoing.

Ashley Tabor, founder & executive president of Global, said: “I’m pleased to announce our proposed acquisition of Juice FM, which will complement our portfolio both regionally and nationally. I’m looking forward to welcoming Juice FM to the Global family.”

It is expected that the Juice name will be discarded by Global, probably in favour of its own Capital radio branding.
