A second batch of letters sent by Prince Charles to government officials and ministers has been released for viewing to the public.

Following the hard-fought battle from the Guardian for the release of Prince Charles’ correspondence with ministers and government departments, 27 memos were released to the public in May.

The latest cache, published on gov.uk, also features issues such as climate change and affordable housing, dating between 2006 and 2009.

Correspondents include Alan Johnson, Andy Burnham, Douglas Alexander, Yvette Cooper and more.

A Clarence House spokesman for the prince said: “The correspondence published by the government today, Thursday 4 June, shows the range of The Prince of Wales’ concerns and interests for this country and the wider world.

“The letters published by the government show the Prince of Wales expressing concern about issues that he has raised in public like affordable rural housing, the quality of hospital food, the preservation and regeneration of historic buildings, an integrated approach to healthcare, climate change, and others.

“In all these cases, the Prince of Wales is raising issues of public concern, and trying to find practical ways to address the issues.”

After the first batch of letters leaked, the prince’s concern for the conservation of the Patagonian toothfish was one the most widely talked about issues on social media to the extent that the term trended on Twitter.
