Just hours after revealing her new look and name, Caitlyn Jenner, formerly Bruce Jenner, has become the person to reach 1 million Twitter followers in the shortest amount of time, beating out President Obama and stepdaughter, Kim Kardashian.

Caitlyn launched her Twitter account earlier today after a sneak peak of her Vanity Fair cover went viral.

“I'm so happy after such a long struggle to be living my true self,” she wrote in her Twitter bio. “Welcome to the world Caitlyn.”

According to Spredfast, #callmecaitlyn was mentioned more than 200,000 times following the photo release, with most mentions occurring in the hour before lunch.

Twitter data revealed that overall, there have been 1.5 million mentions of Caitlyn.

About three quarters of those mentions were female Tweeters.

The two most popular tweets came from Vanity Fair and Connor Franta.

Mentions of the star are expected to increase as the full Vanity Fair issue is slated to hit newsstands on 9th June.
