Spotify partners with NBC, Vice, TED, and others to launch video streaming

Streaming service, Spotify, will be offering video along with its existing music services, it announced at a star-studded event in New York this morning.

Partnerships with NBC, Vice, Ted, ABC, BBC, Comedy Central, and others, will now alow the service to integrate both original content and video clips into music streaming.

“We’re bringing you a deeper, richer, more immersive Spotify experience,” said Daniel Ek, Spotify’s chief executive officer. “We want Spotify to help soundtrack your life by offering an even wider world of entertainment with an awesome mix of the best music, podcasts and video delivered to you throughout your day. And we’re just getting started.”

Spotify also announced a running addition to its app, which would create a playlist based the tempo of a runner’s footsteps.

The changes will roll out today in US, UK, Sweden, and Germany iOS apps. Other markets are to follow.
