University of the Arts London (UAL) has appointed Zone as its digital agency following a four-way pitch.

Zone will work with UAL, which counts Alexander McQueen, Russell Brand and Stella McCartney among its alumni, as part of a digital transformation programme to deliver better online services for students and staff.

The agency will initially undertake audience segmentation research before redefining the University’s digital roadmap.

Zone chief experience officer, Jonathan Simmons, said that digital and technological innovation is throwing up new opportunities within the education sector.

"Education, like other sectors, is in the middle of a massive shift, with new opportunities arising all the time. Digital is key in helping us deliver information and services to all UAL’s existing and prospective students and staff in a way that reflects the university’s standing as a world-class institution.”

UAL is Europe's largest specialist arts and design university with more than 19,000 students spread across six Colleges.
